Toy and gift firm Rex London opens EU hub in Belgium in response to Brexit issues – ToyNews

The toy and gifting specialist, Rex London has responded to the increased red tape surrounding trade with European countries following Brexit by establishing a new distribution centre in Belgium.

The move has been made, according to the London-headquartered company, to ‘better serve its customers in the European Union, without customs delays or additional costs.’ In the announcement relayed to its customers, Rex London underlined its commitment to serving its international network.

Rex London currently sees half of its business with European customers. The firm recounts that following initial teething problems at the start of the year, upon the completion of Britain’s exit from the European Union, there ‘was a period of four weeks that it couldn’t supply its EU customers at all.’

The company states that its new Belgium unit means that “Rex London customers in the EU can continue to order with confidence, with all orders being imported into the EU by the new Belgian company, Rex London BV, which is wholly owned and managed by our UK company.”

Trade customers will have access to thousands of Rex London products, which they will be able to order online or with their team of dedicated account managers in the usual way.

“In fact, nothing will really change for stockists ordering from Rex London,” said the company. “Current delivery forecasts estimate a total transit time of up to two weeks for most EU orders, however Rex London is investigating further measures it can take to reduce delivery times in the future.”

Rex London’s director, Scott Clarke cited the loss of business at the start of 2021 as “a big deal for the company”, and has since identified the international market as the key growth area for the business. Through the establishment of Rex London BV, the firm will focus its resources on building and sustaining its international presence.

Today, Rex London portfolio of products in original, award-winning prints can be seen all over the world, from small independent shops, to galleries, museums and large department stores.
