Sawdust and Rainbows scales down its popular Wee’UN for new Compact edition – ToyNews



The indoor wooden play apparatus specialist, Sawdust and Rainbows is continuing to bolster its 2021 portfolio, this time with the launch of its new Compact Wee’UN, a play area designed to allow toddlers to develop their sensory and motor skills.

The company has seen vast success within the indoor play space market over the course of the last year, with sales of Sawdust and Rainbows products ‘going through the roof,’ throughout the UK’s lockdowns. In March last year, the Northern Ireland-based start up posted its busiest trading week to date, outpacing the sales success it saw at Christmas.

Since then, the firm has launch a series of new play products developed to allow children to explore with their imagination. The latest to the range is the new Compact Wee’UN, a scaled down version of the Pickler-inspired climbing frame for which Sawdust and Rainbows rose to popularity.

Made with the same chunky dowel, which is comfortable for little hands and feet, the Compact Wee’UN is 15 per cent lighter and 25 per cent slimmer when folded. The Compact Wee’UN has been stability tested to hold 250kg. 

Rosie Hughes, the mumpreneur behind Sawdust and Rainbows, said: “I set myself a challenge to see how much weight the Compact Wee’UN could hold and create something streamlined and affordable in the process. Safety testing involved sitting the Compact Wee’UN on a 10degree slope and placing several 50kg weights on the most onerous position.

“We had so much fun testing in the workshop, and even had to buy more weights as it was clear early on that the weightbearing capacity was more than the weights we had.”

Choose between rainbow, pastel, monochrome and natural colours. For every Compact Wee’UN sold Sawdust and Rainbows will plant a tree through their partnership with Just One Tree.
