Brainstorm Toys teams supports primary school recycling campaign across Yorkshire – ToyNews

Brainstorm Toys has struck up a new partnership with the environmental consultancy Comply Direct to support a school recycling campaign taking place across seven primary schools in Yorkshire.

Developed to highlight the challenges of Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE Recycling) in the UK, the two-week project will see children bring in old or unwanted household items for recycling.

It will see all electrical items placed in specialised containers containers installed by Electrical Waste Recycling Group (EWRG) who are one of the largest UK WEEE recycling facilities, then recycled at their WEEE recycling plant in Huddersfield. As well as a recycling container for electrical items, there will also be a separate container for used batteries.

The school who collects the most WEEE and waste batteries will win a prize for their school from Brainstorm Toys, itself a WEEE and packaging compliance customer of Comply Direct.

Debra Tiffany, marketing manager at Brainstorm said: “As an industry, we are extremely conscious of responsible practices that must be adhered to when it comes to recycling and so were delighted when Comply Direct approached us to become involved in this initiative.

“As well as the chance to win their school a prize, children will also get to learn a lot about electrical and electronic waste recycling and we’re sure their parents will also learn a lot too, so it’s a great way to teach the next generation about an issue that’s close to our hearts.”
